What a Clarity II™ Treatment Looks Like
Session length depends on the treatment. Facial veins take minutes, full-leg hair removal takes closer to an hour.
Your provider assesses your skin tone, hair color or vein type, and selects the appropriate wavelength and settings. For hair removal, you'll have shaved the area within the last 24 hours.
The skin is cleansed, protective eyewear goes on and, for some treatments, a cooling gel is applied. A test pulse confirms the settings feel tolerable and the skin responds as expected.
The handpiece is passed over the treatment area in a grid, delivering pulses of light. Integrated cooling fires with each pulse, so the sensation is a quick warm snap followed by cold.
A soothing gel or aloe is applied to calm the skin. Mild redness and, for hair removal, slight swelling around follicles are normal and fade within hours. Your next session is scheduled based on the treatment.
Light Absorbed by a Target
Every laser works by delivering light that a specific target absorbs and converts to heat. For hair removal, the target is melanin in the hair shaft and follicle; the heat disables the follicle so it stops producing. For veins, the target is hemoglobin in the blood; the heat seals the vessel so the body absorbs it. For pigment, the target is the excess melanin in a sun spot, which breaks apart and flakes away. For skin rejuvenation, gentle heat in the dermis prompts collagen production.
The reason two wavelengths matter comes down to safety and precision. Alexandrite is absorbed so strongly by melanin that on darker skin it can heat the skin itself, not just the hair. Nd:YAG is absorbed less by melanin and reaches deeper, so it can treat hair and veins on darker skin without that risk. Clarity II™ lets your provider match the physics to your skin. Its temperature sensing adds a second layer of safety by tracking how the skin is responding and flagging if it's getting too warm.
