Lines and Wrinkles
Why the Type of Line Decides the Treatment
Lines form for three main reasons. Expression lines, like frown lines, forehead creases and crow's feet, come from muscles folding the skin the same way thousands of times a day. Static lines and folds, like the ones running from nose to mouth, appear when the fat and bone underneath shrink and the skin above has less support. Fine surface lines, especially around the eyes and mouth, come from thinning skin, sun damage and lost collagen.
Each type responds to a different treatment. Neurotoxins relax the muscles behind expression lines. Resurfacing and microneedling rebuild collagen for surface lines and improve the skin quality around them. Treating a surface line with a muscle relaxant, or the reverse, gives disappointing results. At your consultation, we will tell you which type of line you have and what will actually soften it.

Services That Treat Lines and Wrinkles
The treatments below address lines at every layer, from muscle and structure to the skin's surface. Many patients benefit from more than one, and your provider will help you decide what combination fits. Each service page explains how the treatment works, what an appointment involves and how long results last.

Neurotoxins
Neurotoxins relax the muscles that create expression lines, so the skin over them stays smoother. Results appear within a week or two and last three to four months, with no downtime.

Microneedling
Microneedling creates thousands of tiny controlled punctures in the skin, which triggers your body to produce new collagen. Over a series of sessions, texture smooths, scars soften and pores look smaller.

Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing removes damaged outer layers of skin and stimulates new growth underneath. It's one of the most effective treatments for sun damage, deeper lines, acne scarring and rough texture, with results that last for years.
Any Questions?
What's the difference between a line and a wrinkle?
They're the same thing at different stages. A line is early and often fades when your face relaxes, while a wrinkle has settled into the skin and stays.
Which treatment works best for forehead lines?
Neurotoxins, since forehead lines come from muscle movement. Deep, etched lines may also benefit from a resurfacing treatment.
Can lines around the mouth be treated?
Yes. Depending on the cause, neurotoxins, resurfacing or a combination can soften smile lines, marionette lines and vertical lip lines.
Will treatment stop me from making expressions?
Not with conservative dosing. The goal is to soften the crease, not freeze the movement.
How long do results last?
Neurotoxins last three to four months, and collagen-building treatments one to several years with maintenance.
At what age should I start treating lines?
Whenever they start to bother you. Many people begin preventive neurotoxin treatment in their late twenties or thirties, before lines become permanent.
