XERF Skin Tightening
Firmer Skin Without Surgery
Skin stays firm because of collagen and elastin fibers in its deeper layers. From our mid-twenties on, production slows and existing fibers weaken, which is why the jawline softens, the neck loosens and the skin around the eyes and cheeks begins to sag.
Skin tightening treatments work by delivering controlled heat to those deeper layers. The heat causes existing collagen to contract slightly, giving a mild immediate tightening, and more importantly it signals the skin to produce new collagen over the following months. The result is a gradual lift and firming that looks natural because it's your own tissue doing the work. It won't replicate a facelift, but for mild to moderate laxity it can turn back several years, and it's suitable for all skin tones.

What Happens at a Skin Tightening Appointment
Appointments take 30 to 90 minutes depending on the area and device. Most treatments have little or no downtime.
Your provider assesses how much laxity you have and where, and checks skin thickness and health. This determines which device and energy level will work best.
The skin is cleansed, and for some deeper treatments a numbing cream is applied. A conductive gel may be used to help the energy transfer evenly.
The handpiece moves across the treatment area, delivering energy in passes or pulses. You'll feel deep warmth and possibly brief moments of heat, which the provider adjusts to keep comfortable.
A cooling gel or compress calms the skin afterward. Your provider will schedule the rest of your series and a review at three months, when new collagen has had time to form.

Is Skin Tightening Right for You?
Skin tightening works best on skin that has started to loosen but hasn't reached the point where surgery is the only option. You're likely a good candidate if:
- Your jawline has lost definition or you're noticing early jowls
- The skin on your neck has become loose or crepey
- Your brows or upper eyelids feel heavier than they used to
- You have mild sagging in the cheeks or around the mouth
- You've lost weight or had children and want to firm loose skin on the abdomen, arms or thighs
- You'd like to prevent further laxity and maintain firmness as you age
Skin tightening has its limits. If you have significant sagging or a lot of excess skin, a surgical consultation may serve you better, and your provider will tell you honestly if that's the case.
Why Patients Choose Skin Tightening
Skin tightening addresses one of the hardest signs of aging to treat without surgery, with results that look like a natural improvement.
Caring for Your Skin After Tightening
Your skin has been gently heated, so aftercare focuses on keeping it cool, hydrated and protected while collagen rebuilding begins.

Any Questions?
Does skin tightening hurt?
Most treatments feel like deep warmth with occasional hot spots that pass quickly. For more intense devices, we use numbing cream to keep you comfortable.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the device and how much laxity you have, but most people need three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Some higher-energy treatments need only one or two.
When will I see results?
There's often a mild immediate tightening, but the real change appears over two to three months as new collagen forms. Results continue to improve for up to six months.
How long do results last?
Typically one to three years, depending on the treatment and how your skin ages. Maintenance sessions once or twice a year help extend them.
Can skin tightening replace a facelift?
No. It's effective for mild to moderate laxity but can't remove excess skin the way surgery does. We'll tell you at your consultation if surgery would serve you better.
Can I combine skin tightening with other treatments?
Yes. It pairs well with fillers, neurotoxins and resurfacing, and your provider will plan the order so treatments complement each other.
